PRE-NOTICE OF RACE

ORGANISING AUTHORITY
1.1
The SB20 World Championship 2021 will be organised by the Singapore Sailing Federation with the support of ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove Singapore for and on behalf of the SB20 Association of Singapore.

RULES
2.1
The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2017 – 2020 (RRS), where applicable, the International Rules for Preventing Collisions at Sea, The Maritime and Port Authority Guideline to Pleasure Craft Licensing.
2.2
National authority prescriptions will apply. For RRS 40 Personal flotation devices; life-saving equipment, add on after the rule, the following; “Singapore Sailing Federation prescribes that every participant shall wear life-saving equipment conforming to government regulations that apply when racing on-water.”
2.3
The SB20 class rules shall apply except SB20 Class Rule C.5.1 (Mandatory Equipment) is modified and only include C.5.1 (5) A floating throwing line, minimum of 20m long and 6mm in diameter shall be attached at the stern. With this change, these are herein referred to as the Class Rules
2.4
RRS 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.
2.5
RRS Appendix P will apply.
2.6
Appendix T (arbitration) will apply.
2.7
Should there be any conflict between this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions, the Sailing Instructions shall take precedence.
2.8
If there is a conflict between languages, the English text will take precedence.

ADVERTISING
3.1
Competitor advertising will be restricted to World Sailing Regulation 20.
3.2
Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the Organising Authority.
4
ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
4.1
The SB20 World Championship is open to SB20s that comply with the Class Rules.
4.2
The Organising Authority reserves the right to refuse an entry from any SB20 considered unsuitable for the regatta.
4.3
All boats entered must be currently registered with the SB20 Class Association.
4.4
Eligible teams may enter by registering online at sb20worlds21.com by the closing date, 31 January 2021.
4.5
All Singapore registered boats must be a fully paid up member of the SB20 Association of Singapore. All foreign registered boats must be fully paid up members of their foreign equivalent to the SB20 Association of Singapore.

ENTRY FEES
5.1
The entry fee is S$1000.00.The fees are non-refundable unless the regatta is cancelled
5.2
The entry fee includes complimentary berthing for the participating boats, which will be offered at ONE°15 Marina from 20 Jan 2021 to 20 February 2021.Boats that remain at ONE°15 Marina outside the complimentary berthing period will be charged at prevailing rates.

SCHEDULE
6.1
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk, see RRS 4, Decision to Race. The Organising Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

6.2
Maximum of 4 races could be run each day.
6.3
On the final day of racing, no warning signal will be made after 1600H
7
MEASUREMENTS
7.1
All boats and equipment shall be available for random measurement checks by the Organising Authority.
7.2
Crew weighing will be carried out during registration or under exceptional circumstances, and with prior written approval from the Organising Authority, between 09:00 and 10:30 on 27 January 2021.
7.3
Sail checks may be carried out during registration.
8
SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
8.1
The sailing instructions will be available at ONE°15 Marina and at sb20worlds21.com. Full course details will be made available with the Sailing Instructions.

VENUE
9.1
The SB20 World Championship is hosted by ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove.
9.2
Attachment 1 shows the location of the ONE°15 Marina.
9.3
Location of the racing area will be stated in the Sailing Instructions.

THE COURSE
10.1
The course will be windward-leeward,and will be described in the Sailing Instructions and explained at the Competitor’s briefing.
11
SCORING
11.1
The low point scoring system, provided in Appendix A of World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing, will apply.
11.2
A maximum of 15 races are scheduled for the regatta.
11.3
A minimum of 6 races are required to constitute the SB20 World Championship.
11.4
When 6 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
11.5
When 10 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her 2 worst score.

BERTHING
12.1
Boats shall be kept in their assigned places while they are in the ONE°15 Marina.
13
HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS
13.1
Boats shall not be hauled out during the regatta except with, and according to the terms of prior written permission of the Organising Authority.
14
RADIO COMMUNICATION
14.1
The Race Committee may broadcast information available to all competitors by radio on VHF Channel 77, including starting and safety information.
Except in an emergency or for the purpose of SI 16.1, a boat shall not make radio transmissions while racing nor receive transmissions not available to all boats. This restriction applies to all communication devices.
15
PRIZES
15.1
Prizes will be awarded for the overall top 5 places.
15.2
Individual day winners will be awarded trophies on final day prize giving.
15.3
The overall champion will win the SB20 Asia Pacific Championship Challenge Trophy.

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

INSURANCE
17.1
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance.
18
CHARTER BOATS
18.1
Singapore Sailing Federation has six SB20s and SAF Yacht Club has two SB20s available for charter on a first come first served basis.
18.2
Private charter boats will also be available.
